SCMAD v2.0?

As the topic hints, this post is about the (hopefully) next generation of the Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer (SCMAD). I wonder if there are any proposals for a new scmad exam?
I have'nt seen any so far.

JTWI provides a well-defined application environment but many news APIs have been completed since JTWI was defined in 248. The Mobile Service Architecture is a newer umbrella specification, again based on MIDP 2.0. (its backwards compatible). My intuition tells me that there would be a new exam within a couple of years, covering the new umbrella specification.

I strongly suspect that updating the SCMAD is probably low on Sun's to-do list. It's not exactly the most popular exam, from the relative traffic in the groups here at JavaRanch, to start with. Moreso, there's been what seems to be more of a push towards the Enterprise end of things over the last few months - notice the updates to the WS exam, SCEA (finally!), the forthcoming AJAX exam that just had its questionnaire... I think there would need to be a significant change in Java ME to cause the impetus to update the SCMAD. Just my two cents, but.

I don't sure, but I feel SCDJWS is less popular than SCMAD, but Sun chose to update SCDJWS before SCMAD.

I agree, with the fierce market competition in the mobile arena (iPhone, Android, Palm), I hope Sun (now Oracle) will give JME (and consequently SCMAD) its much needed boost SOON!

I just found out that there's already a version 3.0 of the Java Platform Micro Edition Software Development Kit.

Do you think we will also see an upgrade of the exam soon?

Doesn't Sun have a new technology that allows you to write programs that can then be deployed to a broad range of devices, from mini to micro? I'd see that becoming more of a certification priority for Sun in the near term.

Does that have the same problem as Java ME? I think the main priority is to make Java ME portable to many handsets, I'm no export in Java ME but as I heard, portability is the major problem of Java ME.

I'd like to hear Oracle's opinion about Mobile platform development, but I guess it'll take a while, maybe too late.
