I had my time with J2ME. I was implementing google notes app on mobile, and belive me I had rough time making it work on couple of phones. I had dozen of workarounds. Will Andro solve this agony of programing mobile and otheh small (embedded) devices? If yes? Why are other smarts using Window$ Mobile?
What would it take to make Andro work on those phones? For example all other HTC phones are running Windows Mobile. Can those be flashed with Android.
What about Nokia?
All said, next month I am getting G1 and hope that Andro gets out of "Google Beta" - 1.1 is still beta. When you have at least dozen of phones running it and more than developers market it will stay in beta!

Hi,
I am a big fan of Android,
They are releasing Android enabled phone in UK in April'09. Cant wait to get my hands on it, being a Java developer from past 8 years. I would love to develop applications for Android community "Go Android Go" .
This book will be a g8 kick start my exploration to open source programming!

Welcome Frank Ableson, Charlie Collins & Robi Sen
In your experience developing with Android , which IDE would your recommend between Netbeans(using the nandroid plugin) or Eclipse (using the Android Eclipse plugin) ?
How do the two plugins fair against each other? Which of the two would you recommend for someone new to Android?

It's very nice this brand new option to know and learn about Android. Google is investing a lot of money in this project and I'm pretty sure that it will be the future.
Congratulations to the tree authors! It's a really nice step for a great opportunity.

Frank Ableson, Charlie Collins & Robi Sen, welcome guys !
PS.: I'm an Android starter programmer...give me a copy of the book...please ;)
You know that posting in this thread doesn't enter you in the contest to win a book, right? To be eligible to win, you need to either create a new thread or reply in an existing one. That post needs to be on topic - "I want a book" doesn't count.
