Part I passed

Hello all!

I passed the 1st part. But I'm not happy at all, only 73%... I was very nervous. And I always felt I didn't have enough time.

To be sincere, the greatest difficulty was to understand the questions, and understand what they expect you to answer, even when you know about the topic. It's not only that my english level is not very good, further I felt I knew about the topic and the conecpts mentioned, but there were several valid answers (or none of them). Sometimes you feel you have to answer something you don't think just to make them happy. They give you very little information and them make you choose... and you say "None of the answers fits very well" or "Give me more details".

I recommend buying Whizlabs Mock Exams. You don't learn about the topics themselves, but you learn what do they want. And this gives you a lot. I recommend too officail webs like Sun JEE Tutorial or corejeepatterns web site.

Thank you very very much. Your help was precious. I'm afraid I will have to ask for help many more times for parts 2 and 3. By the, way, what do I do now? What's my next step? I mean, now that I got my exam passed, can I already ask for my assignment or I have to wait for anything? Where can I ask for my assignment? I now all this information must be somewhere, but I didn't find it.

Thank you once again. Hope I can help too other times.

antonio

Congrats Antonio.

Can you please share all the books and notes you read and how much time did you spend for the preparation?

Thank you very much!

I find it usefull to read web resources like javaranch, www.corej2eepatterns.com and read JEE pdf tutorial from Sun: don't read it all, read details about when to use each API, what advatages have each one and so on. But don't read code examples, glassfish configuration, netbeans use or so.

Whizlabs was very useful. Really worth its price.

How much time to prepare the exam? I can't say for sure as I've been studying for some weeks but little time each day. But I think it's not how much time, it's just when you don't know what more to study, I mean, when you covered all the topics and you feel confidence with it. The best is the start searching for the sources, then cover them all, make some mock exams to know 1ºIf you reach the required level of depth 2ºIf you know what they ask 3ºIf you really know the topics.

I found uselful a EJB3 book. I read the O'Reilly Enterprise JavaBeans. I read too the SCEA well known books: Mark Cade's and those. Specially to know about security. Please study Applets and Java Web Start as those topics are included and important.

Finally study as much as you can about 2-tiers vs 3-tiers, integration, protocols, JAX-WS and asynchronous vs synchronous. And remember that UML is no longer included.

Bye and thank you!!

Thank you and of course I'll share what you want me to. I shared some comments about what I found usefull, but does anybody want to ask for something else? I'd really like to help, but I don't have more things to share... in fact, I hope you get a better result than mine.

Thank you very much for your blog. It's very interesting to read it.

I've received a mail asking me some questions. I will answer them here, just in case someone want to know or to add any information:
---------------------------------
1) As per my understanding we protocols are not incuded now -- is it correct..??
2) Which is the best book to study about security - that is the place i am little weak.
3) Coming to JPA which s the best book for this..?
4) Can you share any scea preparation documents with me..?
---------------------------------

1) They will ask about HTTP and HTTPS. They will ask about HTTP tunneling. They will ask too (but this is not protocols topics) about Corba, IDL and so on.
2) I just read the JEE tutorial and the SCEA's book (Mark Cade's one, for example). Topics include applet and Java Web Start security. And about firewalls and demilitarized zones. The may ask too about where to configure some security aspects.
3) I didn't use or now any JPA book. But you don't need to know much about it.
4) I already told you what I used. But I don't have any other resources. I recommend Whizlabs too.

Than you!

Hi,

I have started preparing for SCEA PartI exam.

I have question regarding Multiple Choice type in SCEA PartI:

* Multiple Choice questions with only Check Boxes or Radio Buttons or both mixed ?

Thanks,
Raveendra
