What would be the required background to be able to understand your book fully ? (it seems quite advanced) Having used databases in projects would be enough ?

Without having seen the book myself, I'm pretty sure all you need is general working knowledge about modern relational databases. As in "I am not a database administrator but I know about schemas, tables, foreign keys, triggers, etc."

Yes, you should have a basic understanding of tables, columns, views, and stored procedures. Also, because the code is written in Java and Oracle PLSQL, you need to be able to read both (neither is hard to understand, particularly Java for this community).

Basically, if you're doing even just a bit of work with relational databases then you probably have the knowledge to understand the book. The more experience the better, of course.
