Yes,
you should have a basic understanding of tables, columns, views, and stored procedures. Also, because the code is written in
Java and Oracle PLSQL, you need to be able to read both (neither is hard to understand, particularly Java for this community).
Basically, if you're doing even just a bit of work with relational databases then you probably have the knowledge to understand the book. The more experience the better, of course.
