I'm not looking for a bible on Javascript, just the basic stuff.

I'm reading Ajax In Action and feeling lost, not because of the content, but because of Javascript. I have problems getting into it, having almost no experience in it. Eating so much Javascript in one day, my stomach is hurting

Ajax in Action recommends two books at the end of appendix B, but it doesn't seem to be the kind of thing I'm looking for.

So if you've got a recommended book, please tell me. Or even a web site.
Maybe I should just read Appendix B once more...

Somewhat dated, but a good starting point: Voodoo's introduction to JavaScript. The JavaScript Guide and the JavaScript Tutorial from Netscape are also very helpful, but Netscape/AOL/TW no longer hosts them. You may still be able to find them somewhere else, though.

Thank you for your help.
I've actually reread appendix B and finally got the picture (prototype, Function, and this.id not being this.id )

I'm going back to chapter 4 and will look into your recommendations if I'm still drowning.
