When was the last time a team scored over 550 runs in first innigns and still lost a test match? It seems whenever the aussies lose, they have some kind of record(remember Kolkatta, or the 400+ chase by WI?) Ravi

The pressure of expectation has affected Sachin's batting to a very large extent. The way Dravid, Laxman & Sourav has played in this series so far will hopefully reduce that and probably we can see the real Sachin soon. It might be a blessing in a disguise, after all
we won, we won will ausies bring mcgrath or bret lee for the next two matches?

hey, someone in this thread did say...INDIA will perish...they'll lose all the matches...par ab to ponting aur waugh ko unki nani yaad aa gayi hogi(both ponting & waugh would have recalled their nanny..)...ponting bahut aawaz kar raha tha..(ponting was speaking too much)... Hope that now Aussies start to believe that even they are human beings. MB
Agarkar can not missed while giving credits for victory.. He did a good job.

Congratulations to India. There are only two teams that I support, South Africa and whoever the team is that plays against Australia. I bet there are a few bookies crying today. While India was playing Australia, we were playing against the West Indies. I am glad to say that we won, even with Lara scoring an unbeaten double century in the first innings. Lara is a phenominal batsman. Towards the end of his innings he scored 28 runs in one over. Four 4's and two 6's. Luckily for us Lara had no support from the rest of the line up, and in the second innings he was bowled out early.

Congrats on your win! But its sad to see the Windies lose . Such a great player in Lara and they're not able to capitalize (yet???). I just hope that they get their game back. Can still remember the formidable Windies (Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Malcolm, Haynes era)...

I understand what you are saying. They are a great bunch of guys and I would much rather have us win against Australia or England than them. They deserve a break and a good run of form. Its pretty cool to be talking cricket for a change. Most American based forums obviously chat about American sport. Other than their motor racing I don't have much in common to talk about.

It was breathtaking to see India win this test. Australia is a team people like to hate not just because they do all things in the field - sledging being the least unpleasant. They tried to do everything dirty with Sarwan and Jayasuriya. If Australians (and Hair) could have had everything their way, Murali would have been banned years ago. Yet Steve Waugh is a real real nice guy. More so when I think of Udayan. I feel Steve is nice guy leading a bunch of uncontrolled brats. I am quite amazed world is not learning a few lessons from Sourav how to handle Aussies and pay them back in their own coin - and now in their own backyard. If only this was the last test of the series. India has a great record of going up in the series only to have it squared later. Indian Tigers, the job is well begun but still only half done. Best wishes

Whatever the outcome of the series (which I hope will be in India's favor ), its shown one thing. The Aussies(who've been flying on cloud 9 ) have to take India seriously and come to terms with the fact that they may not be the best team in the world .
On paper yes !! But he is coming after a long lay-off and with Zaheer in good form, equation seems to be balanced ! wat you say? [ December 18, 2003: Message edited by: Vrn Khan ]
people were saying indians are no match for the australia either.... with this test match i really dun kno what to expect anymore.... indians have built up a habit of surprising us at the most unusual occasions... remember the one day against england or the match against pakistan in world cup or the test at eden .... the indians must be a bookies nightmare at this very moment ...
We will have to see how Tendulkar scores. He hope he doesn't score binary digits/single digits.

I dont think we s'd read too much into these practice games. We got thrashed by local teams before the first test and then stunned Aus and Indians as well in the next 2. Aus came to india, got thrashed by mumbai team and then crushed India in mumbai in the first test.

Couple of things: First they targetted Ganguly , Dravid and Agarkar. Now that nothing has worked, Aussie media is finally targetting Tendulkar with the hope of doing some psychological harm! Waugh has gone so silent these days. seems to have disintegrated mentally Brett Lee w/o Mcgra , Warne and Gillespie -- is he going to effective?. Looks like we might have to duck a few more bouncers initially. How fast is he? 10+ km/hr more than Gillespie? :-) If we can hold fort early , we s'd be ok?. thoughts?

What will they gain ? Nothing. They should target Dravid and Laxman. At the start of the tour it was said Tendulkar was the only person who will bat but as the tour progressed it is said Tendulkar is the only person who cannot bat. How things change so quickly! That is life! Every one must have had such experience where joy turns into sorrow.

Oh no I'm an Indian residing in India and i normally read articles from the following sites: smh.com.au theage.com.au sport.news.com.au Not sure about where Australians get cricket related news from.
That's not the feeling I got though. I gues everything is open to interpretation. Lately the news has mainly been the selectors responding to Botham's article saying that it is the end for Australia. It was a good win by India, but that's a bit of leap, don't you think. If you want to talk about the end of Australian cricket, can we wait for the return of Lee, McGrath, Warne and Gillespie before we judge the state of Australian cricket? Full marks to India in the last test, but pretend it was our strongest side. Anyways, still looking forward to the Boxing Day test. Dave

12 hours to go... well I feel India will win the series 2-0. May be they give a consolation win to Aussie.. so it will be 2-1 for INDIA. BTW dont go by the statements from aussie cricketers like.. * We have plan to get sachin out every time he comes out to bat. * We bowl differently to indians to get them out. * Coach writes love letter to his team. * MCG pitch is tooo fast. Helpful for Lee. * Ponting making statements after getting drunk in one the bar, saying just winning one match doesnt mean you are world champions. Hummm.. If you believe all these things you believe ANYTHING in the world. Just enjoy how the mighty will fall down in coming days. BTW Sachin has something special crackers for Aussies for this chirstmas.
