I am facing a problem that I cannot seem to solve. After I launch XPs Error-checking utility, I select both Auto Fix file system errors, and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. I select ok and I am then prompted to restart Windows to launch Error-checking. When Windows reboots, the drivers loading part is displayed, followed by Windows XP Splash screen. The screen then turns Black. It remains black for about 10 minutes after which Windows XP finally loads. So I have no idea if Error checking has even worked.

If Error-checking is working behind the scenes, during the Black screen period, Id like to see the Error-checking progress that is usually displayed on a Blue screen. Can someone please assist me in resolving my dilemma?

Thanks,
