Hi,
I passes the SCJP 1.4 exam yesterday.
My study experience:
1. I have used the study guide from Roberts & Heller. Although there are a few mistakes in the book (errata available) it covers all the topics and have a cd which provide mock exams. I will recommend this book.
2. I did a few mock exams in the beginning to determine what are my strong and weak areas.
3. Re-read the study guide, but this time making summaries of the topics and things I think I may get confused on.
4. Done lots of mock exams including some of Dan Chisholm's comprehensive mocks and nearly all his topic mocks. I did Marcus Green's 3 sample exams as well. My average for the mocks was 68%. This made me worry a bit, but the last two fully mock exams I took did my confidence well. I've scored 88% (exam from study guide) & 82% (Marcus's sample test 3).
If you know the language and prepare well for the exam, you would not have to worry about passing it. I had enough time to revise my whole exam and correcting a few answers.
Good luck to those who are preparing for an exam.
I think I might go on and do the Web Component exam next.
