... all in the IBM WebSphere/Rational Technical Conference @ Duesseldorf, Germany last week (Oct 17-21). These are more professional certification tests that I had passed in my whole life thus far! (Four of them: SCJP v1.2, IBM 486 and the old IBM VAJ test in 2001 and SCWCD in 2003).

I didn't study a single minute for any of the tests. Since I happenned to be at the conference and certification was free I thought I take as many cert tests as my schedule would permit. Basically, I passed the tests based on sheer experience.

All my scores were in the 57% - 70% range. Reminds me of a basketball team that clears a playoff series 4-0 by winning every game by 1 - 5 pts difference.

My scores:
- 286 (App Dev w/ WS Studio v5): 69%
- 484 (Enterprise Connectivity w/ J2EE v1.3): 70%
- 287 (Ent App Dev w/ WS Studio v5): 63%
- 256 (App Dev w/ IBM Rational App Dev v6): 57%
- 340 (IBM WAS V5 Base Admin): 62%

Have never used (or even installed!) RAD v6 so those tests were harder for me. The RAD v6 tests have more Web Services and Security emphasis than the WSAD v5 ones. Also, there are various new things in RAD such as enhanced EARs.

So, now I can proudly add the following lines to my resume :-)

- IBM Certified Enterprise Developer - WebSphere Studio V5.0
- IBM Certified Application Developer - Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software V6.0
- IBM Certified Solution Developer - WebSphere Studio V5.0
- IBM Certified Systems Administrator - WebSphere Application Server V5.0

Next I need to study for 257; also 288 (Web Services) is an important test.

I wish IBM had made Rational tests (other than RAD ones) open to the general public rather than only to IBM BPs. There seem to be some nice tests in there regarding RUP, OOA&D, and Requirement Analysis.

Good luck to everybody!

Panagiotis Varlagas.

Dear Lord, didn't you keep busy while you were there? (Not that any of us likely would have done different, but...) Very impressive to have put in that much effort while you were there. Congrats!

Hey, I also tried 2 tests (257 and 665) during IBM Impcat 2007 in Orlando, and all passed. Same as you, no preparation, just based on experience.
