Ok here's my speculation:
the most important 1/4 final match will be The Netherlands vs. Brasil. And the winner will be, with a very high probability like ~80%, the next world champion. And i hope it's The Netherlands. My remaining 20% and my full support go to Germany.

Yeah, these teams are really strong. But in my opinion, Brazil will be able to defeat the Netherlands...
By the way, i suppose to the victory of the Germany and also I believe that Mesut Oezil (shirt number: 8) will be star of the team...

If we start naming individualities Brazil still wins =P
Why do you say Holland has some kind of home advantage, emigrants? Portugal would also have that against Spain, I don't think it matters too much.. Players can't hear anything besides the vuvuzelas :/

True, but he is one who can overwhelm Brasil's strong defense with his long distance hammers.

  • Afrikaans, the mother tongue of many South Africans, is very close to Dutch. And as i understand it, it's not just the language of the former surpressors.
  • Ruud Gullit was an anti-apartheid supporter who dedicated his World- and European Footballer of the Year awards to Nelson Mandela, when he was in jail. He even made an anti-apartheid song.
  • Ajax Amsterdam has an subsidiary in cape town.

There's no home advantage for anyone now. I'm not sure players can hear anybody singing or supporting them with that damn sound.

I'd like to see Argentina go to the finals. But what I'd really like is to see an interesting game.

  • I had no idea, very interesting.

And i get what you're saying, if there's capable of turning the table against Brazil it's Robben.
But most importantly, let's hope it'll be a good match with no interference from the refs.

Guys the Dutch have no sort of Home advantage here in SA.
Now Ghana, has the advantage, although i really think they lack the skill of the other teams in the 1/4 final.

I say Germany v Brazil final.

    Sensation!
I knew that Holland is really good. They almost always have good teams but they tended to waste their powers at the beginnig of tournaments in the past.
But this time they were winning clearly in the group stages, yet paced theirselfs.

My dream final: Holland v Germany.

That probably will kill the speed of the game (It's just 90 minutes after all). IMHO, at least for the goal situations like England vs Germany's should be allowed for a TV replay.

And about yesterday's game, I think Brazil didn't have any competitive teams except Portugal in first two rounds which they had just a draw. That may also had an impact. But Netherlands were really good in the second half

i doubt that. That's just a feature of Football 2.0 and happens when you are in "attack is the best defence" mode.

But Germany really must not underestimate Spain. Spain has what Argentina was missing the most. A real team. A real team where superstars like Xavi and Iniesta, Villa and Torres subordinate theirselfs. And Müller will be missing this match. But i allege that Spain has the tendency to rather die in beauty than to meddle with "ugly" fighting.

    Revenge for Vienna 2008!

I think what Argentina missed the most is tactics. Germany started war of words two days before match to create psychological pressure and Maradona reacted only once in war of words. I think Germany had very good game plan against Argentina and they played as team far much better than Argentina and executed their plan to perfection. Argentina did not seem to have any game plan and was over confident. I felt bad for Maradona but Germany deserved to win because they played superb and Argentina was far behind them in everything as far yesterday's match is concerned. Beating someone 4-0 is proof that you are far better than them on that day.
Now I support Holland even though I feel either Spain or Germany look to win World Cup.
