Can I use WS to connect to SAP BC?

In our project it is required to connect to SAP business connector(BC). The communication(through XML file) between SAP BC and our application is two wa
y i.e., SAP BC will send some data to our application and our application shall send some data to SAP. Can we use WS for this purpose ? OR should I go for some other design.
Your suggestions will be appreciated.
