Hello all,

I'm sorry if this sounds like an extreme newbie question, but I am new to the web dev world and am trying to figure out how to write a web app that begings with an authentication method to authenticate my users against a Sun Java Systems Directory server, read their group membership information and direct them to the correct application (this is an umbrella login page that would allow you to login to the app you choose).

I am having trouble understanding what the process is and which APIs come into play in creating that SSL connection to the LDAP directory.
