As for your question about a market for J2ME, it is not a technical question so it is arguable, just in case you are interested, I think the answer is YES.
If you look to the market out there, lots of companies have moved to
java development in a crazy way, although java is only 6 years old, that was first... ;-) Second, looking to how PDA's are growing fast to become smaller and more powerfull, I think there will be a great demand on small versions of java virtual machines and their applications, in fact, such thing currently exist, it just needs time for the world to get to know it...
Soon enough, a regular person will be holding one device that does everything (cel, organizer, computer...etc), java - along with XML tech.- are some of the best technology candidates for such devices to be based on...
