There was a rumor that Netscape was not going to have built in java support anymore. You would only be able to have java via a plugin. Anybody know about how true this is?

I hate to sound stupid, but isn't the jre a plugin for Netscape right now? I know you can update the jre on Netscape and IE.

Yup, there are plugins now, but Netscape is talking about having no built in stuff at all. So if you have a plain browser on your computer and you go to play the rules roundup game, you will have to download a 20 meg plugin before you can play the game.

I may be naturally optimistic, but my understanding of this is that the standard Netscape package will still include Java support, but users will have the ability to update just the JVM, or specify the use of an external one.
This should give the best of both worlds: Better Applet/JS/Browser integration than with the current plugin; no need to install a new "plugin" if you already have a JDK or JRE for the latest version of Java; applets can properly take advantage of version features by specifying their Java version

That's what we have now.
