Hi
I am planning to take up scjp in the month of november.can anybody tell me whether I can take up scjp 1.4 or scjp 5.0 and suggest me the books to prepare.

If you are going to start your preparation then take 1.5.

Also please check the naming policy in ranch. You should have a valid first & last name

You mean to say its better to take up scjp5.0?but can you tell me the approxminate time for preparation and any books available in the market.

Yes since you going to start you preparation it's better to go for SCJP 1.5, books from K&B is always good , it is yet to be released , not sure about the release date. Also when preparing for 1.5 you have to keep in mind that there are less mocks exams available.

I am already preparing .As of now I am preparing for scjp 1.4.But thought whether it would be better if i go for scjp 5.0.But if books are not available will it be easy to prepare?can you just tell me how many weeks of preparation will scjp require.

Since SCJP 1.5 is the latest one , i prefer to go for it. There are even other criterias you should consider, like the platform or version in which you are working now, etc etc . You can refer to the other thread by Bert Bates regarding the scheduled release of 1.5 books. The time of preparation varies from person to person.
