Hi its prashant new in this forum. I am php programmer but i am interested in to give scjp 1.5 certification exam. I am always g8 full if some one explain me how to get this certificate in 2-3 months. I have no experience in java but i know java very well.

So i think in this post we will get lots of new tutorial's link and suggestion from our seniors.

<a href="http://www.javaprepare.com/">javaprepare</a> i found this site very help full.

But i do't know how much java 1.4 & 1.5 is different. Is there any extra thing to read?

Man I have been preparing for nearly 2 months and after seeing the message of preparations within a month or less I feel so obsolete!. I still dont have that much confidence. I dont want to fail in the exam, I have been working in java (pre 1.5 version) for a few years now, cant afford to fail now. I'm plannin on taking the exam by july 1 or 2nd week. Should I get the appointment in advance as in will there be a lot of wait time? I also use Sierra/Bates book. The book is very good in my opinion so far, I still have 2 more chapters to finish though!. hopefully will finish in next week or so and plannin on reviewing all the things again.

Any pointers of how to prepare would be really great?

Thanks a lot.

I am also preparing for the 1.5 now, I am going to write the test around July 3. still working on the books now. I have been using java for almost 1 year, but do not have too much opportunity to write real application project( I am a student, and only write some non-application project).

Good Luck Warren Li...keep us posted on the result.

PrashCom,

I am reading HeadFirst Java these days, then I'll read the Study Guide by Sierra-Bates. Good thing about Head First Java is that it makes you think from the compiling perspective. I have a 4 day Work Week, so I have promised myself to study at least two chapters on each day I am off.
Seems like the book is very interesting and can be understood well.
The critical thing for me is motivation and discipline.

Good Luck,

Jack.

The Java language has two versions The Standard Edition now known as Java SE, and the bells and whistles version, The EnterPrise Edition, formerly known as J2EE, and now known as Java EE. To get Certified in the Enterprise Edition you have to get the Java Sun Programmer Certificate which uses Java SE.

Hi, I have passed it yesterday(Monday here) and got the result on my signature.

Ramkumar Sridharan: Don't be discouraged. Different people have different background and working for several years doesn't help much since this is an exam, academics!

When I was in uni, I was already familiar with all java features which was 1.3. but I a little regret I didn't take it when I was so hooked to it at that time years ago.

For fellow ranchers, I offer some tips:
1. Fully understand K&B book concepts and examples.
2. Write small java programs along the reading to undoubt your doubt, , Don't be lazy. Only ask a question here if you can't understand and the compiler doesn't help.
3. Read 2 min reviews after each chapter and do the questions there. make sure u understand why u are wrong.
4. Do a 2nd round reviewing of the book( esp. those tables, exam watches and 2min reviews). I don't have the patience to read it fully again, so i did it very quickly.
5. Do at least 1 mock exam in 3 hours, treat it like real exam. but don't be discouraged, because the mock exam with K&B book is much more difficult than the real exam.
6. Play, or do some sports the evening before the exam. It refreshes ur mind. Sleep early. it doesn't help if u still read until mid-night.
Oh ya. Better book the exam for the morning session. Relax and u'll be surprise by ur result.
