Hello,

May I know how long does it take (fulltime study) to pass the SCJP exam for a structure programmer? Can one just go straight into Beth's SCJP 5.0 study guide as a preparation?

Please advise and Thank you.

The duration for the preparation of exam will vary from person to person. For more go through the K&B book introduction section of How to prepare for the exam.

K&B is one of the best books for SCJP preparation

Hi all,

The K&B book introduction section says it is not an Java introduction book but am wondering if one with such background is able to follow without knowing Java in depth.

SCJP Exam for J2SE 5 by Paul Sanghera claims that it is an Java introduction book and also a SCJP preparation book.

It means that it's going deep into the gory details of the exam. It's not a little introductory "hello world" kind of book. It's aimed at the exam.

Hi Jessica,

I also refer to Paul Sanghera book for SCJP 5.0; But as the mock question go, they seem to be less hard than anywhere I find. Paul has also been contributor to the exam. If you compare the difficulty of questions K&B is hard but Paul Sanghera's questions are not. They are straightforward mostly. Yeah it claims to be Book for beginer too. I think it is correct. But a very beginer can't only go with this.
