There is no "best" resume format. Your choice will depend on what you are showcasing. Resumes that focus on work experience will look different than those that focus on academics. There is also personal preference choices to be made about the look and feel.
You should also attempt to cusmtomize your resume based on the job that you are applying for if you get the chance.
My suggestion is to take a few resumes that you like and adapt them to suit you. Once you have given your resume the once or twice over, post it up here for us to critique.

When I got my SCJP logo agreement a few years back, Sun explicitly forbid the use of the logo on resumes. That may have changed, I honestly don't know, you will have to check for yourself.
