done some contracting work for them when employed with a contracting firm.
May sound weird, but the developers in these companies are just like human beings, they live, they breath, and they have an ingrained dislike for the businesspeople who make their work hard.

Just don't tell them about that heist you pulled off a while ago

Seriously, behave like you would in any job interview. While (depending on what part of the organisation you'll be involved in) the procedures inside the company may be more formal and bureaucratic and if you're working on systems directly involved with customer information there's more security than in most companies to protect that data (audits, maybe two-man rules on anyone looking at life data, etc. etc.) that probably won't come into play until after you're taken on board and you should be rigidly briefed on such measures as becomes necessary.
Remember that just like any other company they'll not be expecting (if they're smart) that you know the business end of things and their internal procedures already. If you did you'd already be working there after all and/or have worked there in the past.

Wow, glad to know that GS is a client of Accenture.

One question however. So even if u join Accenture (Mumbai), it is quite possible that they ask you to move to Bangalore. Is it possible to tell them "Hey nooo, I want to be in Mumbai". Do you have that flexibility or do you have to do pretty much what they ask u to do.

Also, what position have you joined Accenture as?

Reality is many companies are moving away from Bangalore itself. Its not that they are closing the operation. But for new joiners, many are asking to choose between Chennai,HYD and other cities etc.Infosys has taken a very big land near Chennai,I heard.Same is with Wipro. Many people agree that day by day doing business here is becoming expensive.Purchasing land/rent has become a headche.Pollution is increasing at alarming rate.
Keeping this and other factors in mind, state owned telecom companies like BSNL/VSNL have started internet broadband service. In next 6 months you will see the effect in remote villages with people getting 256 KBPS speed for as low as Rs 500 per month.Once that achieved,it does not make difference whether you are here or in Bijapur or in Bombay.Companies will move to medium sized towns.HSBC,Oracle has already moved some of their units to Visakhapattanam.Vizag exports

Interviewing for GS is a totally different kind of experience. If you are going to GS please be prepared to be interviewed by min of 5 different people. One of my friends was interviewed by more than 10 people, yes, seriously. You should be prepared to write a technical exam. It is a paper exam with fill in the blanks type questions and some questions ask you to write code ( Questions on sql syntax for example). It is a tough process and most people who interview appear ( they probably are) mean but once you work for them and the experience is there on your resume it is like your passport to financial job market in the tristate area. It has that much value.

Good luck

Hi Soniya,

Sorry for delayed reply.

I won't be in a position to relocate to B'glore. So there is no question of shifting there. And I dont think Accenture will ask me to relocate anywhere for a long term.

What's the culture like at Goldman Sachs? You can PM me if you feel you will be revealing too much info. What kind of requirements is appropriate for a technical job as financial companies? Must know the basics of Finance? What language is predominant besides C/C++?
