Firstly I have to get the book-keeping out of the way - "glasman",
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp .
We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. Please re-register and select a new name which meets the requirements.
Thanks.
Dave

Secondly (and this isn't good news either), you are unlikely to get any help with Visual J++ from anyone here. The best help we can give you is "throw J++ away, get the latest JDK from the sun site and start out on the correct foot".
J++ teaches Java that is not supported by Sun, and due to the court case, I'm pretty sure it's not supported by M$ either. I haven't touched the product, but it is likely to teach you things you will be forced to relearn if you stick with the Java language.
Please throw it away.
I wish you the best of luck with your problem tho, with any luck someone will still answer your problem.
Dave.
