Has the search function been scaled back or is it just not fuctioning properly? Tried to do a few searches on the SCJD forum and I only get results for today even though I have the any date option selected.

Regards,
Mark.

I'm also having problems with it. Trying to search for "JScrollBar" in Swing forum and get zero results. Just looking at the Swing threads, I can see one on the front page today. I think search is messed up...

Well, it hasn't been intentionally limited. But it looks like the search indices for all forums have been cleared out - we'll have to rebuild them. Which we'll do this weekend, probably, when there's less traffic. So you'll continue to see poor search results until then. More importantly, we'll have to figure out how the indices got cleared out in the first place, and prevent that in the future. Thanks for bringing this to out attention.

Yes. Something happened to flush the server cache round about midnight Ranch time last night. We'll get things back together ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

This latest incident was my fault - I flushed the cache last night for other reasons, related to our new format for dates and times. I forgot that the search stuff would need to be rebuilt. In fact I should have been more selective about which parts of the cache got flushed. Anyway, I'll rebuild the search indices tonight (i.e. in about twelve hours), which will cause the ranch to be unavailable for several hours. Things should work fine after that.

Apparently yes, something's happened to the search index. I don't know what (not me this time!) but I can rebuild it tonight. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Yes, the search indices will be rebuilt tonight. And more importantly, we believe we've found the bug that was responsible for this, and fixed it. Hopefully.
