If it is an internal transfer, then the company would have already informed your friend of the salary structure. If it has not, then it is best to ask them first, since each company has its own internal structure for paying its associates who are travelling abroad.

James,
Thnx for reply ... I need to know what should be the ideal salary ... decent one so, that you can leave your parents, frnds and go to japan, tokyo for 1-2 years ...
After having a rough idea negotiations can also be done, because its internal transfer and its easy to convey all the things to manager and HR ...
Still they have not revealed this things to him.

Indian software firms give pretty descent salaries to employees deputed to Tokyo.
All depends on your company.

Which "investment banking" company does your friend work for?

I will be the last person to suggest Tokyo as a good onsite location.....
Reasons:
1) Language constraint
2) Food; not much of Indian food (particularly vegetarian)
3) Limited weekend outings
4) Accommodation
5) Not many Indians here

companies and Japan onsite salaries--

Small indian company
300,000yens-350,000yens per month

Top indian company
400,000 - 600,000yens month

monthly expenditure would be close to
150,000 - 200,000yens per month

I'm sure you... i mean your "friend" will love Japan. Don't worry about the vegetarian food. The japanese eats lots of meat and live longer lives than any other country.
