i want to invoke a servlet/jsp from an application .The servlet/jsp is in a tomcat/resin server configured for https .How can i do it?
can normal url connection do the job.

Yes.. You can use URL Connection in order to communicate with
Servlet
.

thats true but my question is how can i invoke the servlet on a server using the https protocol

Or use JDK1.2 or later with the JSSE extension installed. Other than that, it's as simple as adding "s" to "http":
URL url = new URL("https://myhost/myservlet");
