You could mention 'Software Engineer' in your resume. Given your experience of less than 1 year, the interviewers would be asking about Java and VB, and depending upon your performance, you would put into development in one of the languages.

maybe this is wrong advice..but i suggest is to write a technology of which you have more knowledge and in which you want to make your career. No one is going to call up and ask in your previous company about what technology you where using.. but be sure that if you are writing java or VB then you have fair amount of that technology so that you can answers questions of interviewer.. and you can always say that " I was on bench" and i don't think that for less then 1 yr you are expected to know lots..

You do not have to lie and it is wrong.

You have five months in Java so write a skills/achievements driven CV to highlight your java skills. You can still mention your VB skills and try not to make it very prominent. Also brush up on your Java skills especially your OO concepts. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions
and advice

Abhjit Kumar
Pankaj Tiwari
Arulk Pillai

but i have some more
doubts if possible please help.........

please if can suggest somthing on it

When i go for an interview
definately i gonna mention java as my interest
since i wil appear for SCJP on 18 of this month
but if they ask me

why you dont have an experience of java
project than what should i say....?
bcoz i gonna mention in my CV that i have
done proj in VB in my previous company....
and proffesional certification SCJP 5.0

Actualy the real reason behind mine not doing java
project in my comapnay is
the projects were beyong my level
ie i was J2SE pgmr end expectation were
for Struts hibernate.............so
i couldnt do that project.............

now i am confused

i am sure with that
i will not lie in my interview
i will speak the truth
but is it that if say truth i may loose my job
as a java programmer?

Any advice on the above will be
realy great...............

Thanks in advance.............

I do agree you are in complex situation.

You want to work in java but you don't have real time project experience and technically you might fail to answer.

You don't want VB but worked in VB.

So I would say just accept the reality go for interview convey that your interest is java and see what comes out. And for your knowleg there are not much vb projects now. They are either .net or java and both are good technologies.

Hi Dhwani,
First thing do the SCJP exam very well try to get above 90% because during the interview they will ask your percentage and the topics in which you are strong in java and also they will ask you in which topics you did not score well and why?.So its very important that you score well in all the topics so that the interviewers will be pleased that you are strong at java.Since you have worked in VB not in java you need to prove to the interviewers that you are extremely good at java. When you are attending a interview try to know more about the company and check out that Are they working on java?.Try to know it from any of your friends who are working in that company or you can ask the interviewers itself.Even if they provide you an opportunity working in VB and seeing your skills in programming and interest in java they may put you to work in java.Clarify all the things in the interview itself.Right now concentrate on the exam and once it is over start concentrating on your interviews. All the best for your exam .You will be working in java dont worry.

Regards,
Nik
