Hi all,

Can ny one help to change the JRE version on my system.It shows it has 1.3.1,even after i installed jdk1.5.I want to upgrade/change the jre version manually.How do i do it???/

If you are using windows, use Start->Settings->Control Panel->Java Plug-in

Are you talking about running java programs from the command line? Try looking at your PATH environment variable.

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Env.Vars.

I did try Start-Settings-CP-Java Plug in.But java -version in cmd.exe still displays 1.3.1???

Hello Hari,

To my mind, the basic procedure for a new version of a software is:

1. remove old version
2. install new version

This should work for jre as well.

uninstall the older versiopn from add/remove and try

I found javac and java in %SystemRoot%/win32/ and removed them, since they hided %JAVA_HOME%\bin in the %PATH%, because they were found first.

btw: a really tough question...
