Expect header

hi all
The status code in a range of 100-199 will make the client
should respond with some other action. the code set by the server ie with in (100-199) is based on the Expect request header.
i didn't get what the Expect request header meant by and also help me how to access it from the servlet and how to set the value from the client side.

The expect header is defined by RFC2616 sec 14.20 here http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec14.html#sec14.20

You would retrieve the value in a servlet using request.getHeader().
