when compiling the following code i am getting a compiler error "The type AbstractStringBuilder is not visible"

StringBuffer sb=new StringBuffer();
sb.append("one").append("two");

The error message is not caused by those two lines of code directly. Please show us some more of your code. The compiler tells you exactly in which line of code the error occurs - have a good look at that line of code in your source file.
