And its not any yet-to-be-classified species of lizards that we are talking about. Check out this story reported widely by world media. Doctors kept him under round-the-clock observation for 10 days, during which he did not eat or drink, and he claims he hasn't for last 68 years! (some sources reports 66 yrs.)
David Blaine wasn't cheating this time around, I suppose!

Hmmm, methinks this needs a lot more research. This guy could be the perfectly-globalised employee. Particularly if he doesn't need to sleep. Great time-waster sleep is. Inefficient.
Do they say whether he sleeps?

Before reading, I knew such things can happen only in India
Previous guy at least used to take sun energy to survive. He even does not need that

all such claims have been debunked whenever they turn up.
Usually the person will admit to taking some food every other day or so, not because (s)he needs it of course but because it tastes so nice...

I wish he does that sooner than later. However, according to the reports, medics observed him 24-7 for ten days, during which he didnt even drink a drop of water! He didn't urinate either, but they noticed that his bladder did produce 40ml or so urine but all of (unlike a part which is ordinary) it was then absorbed back into his body. A walking recycling plant, dont you think?

10 days doesn't make a lifetime of course.
People in periods of famine have gone without food for longer (though they didn't look as good as this gentleman after 10 days).
As the human body needs to consume calories to maintain itself intake of nutrients in some form is a physiological necessity.
During periods of extreme inactivity (such as a meditating guru might have for prolonged periods) that intake could be minimal, even zero, especially if the body had good reserves of nutrients stored in the form of fat (during higher activity this is also possible but as the body will burn more calories it will consume those reserves more quickly).
Possibly the body can over time become accustomed to a lower than normal (for the size of that body) caloric intake, but a minimum would always be required.
