Rajiv does not have the smarts to do any of the above mentioned certifications. He could not complete his bachelors degree. He was busy doing Sonia in London.

Rajiv was also very busy with book promotions and asking questions to authors.

Anyway coming to the point, when Rajiv was alive she didnt think about that.
Because Rajiv was there for here. No need to take care about those stuff. After that as she felt insecure. A woman becomes totally insecure no matter whether indian or italian after husbands death.

This lady has lived in this country for last 35 years, she has her children who have had no other identity than being indians, her husband has lived and died in this country ( I did not use for, just said [I}in{/I] ) will she desert all this? You can have as much faith on her as you can have faith on the inherent human integrity.

Robert Clive, the then Viceroy of India, was bought up in Madras, he married his bride in Madras and lived in Madras for quite a while even after completing his term as Viceroy. Should we consider him too as one of our greatest leaders?

I would think that those nations are far greater at risk of loosing out to the world, whose premiers have qualified themselves as promiscuous dawdlers, money launderers and still allowed to be in office. They have been far greater at risk in placing their faith in those who erred than we placing our faith in those who could err.

I dont necessarily disagree with what you have said above. But we must find amongst ourselves one such leader who exemplifies all that is good. If we are going to depend on foreign leaders to perpetually show us the way what use are we as people?

Well, yes, we will have to live with Westerners ridiculing us for the dynasty rule, even if we know it was a pure and fare democratic exercise.

No ridicule here - I live in a state with a Kennedy as senator, in a district that had a Kennedy as representative until he decided to run for a bigger post. I think I'd rather have Gandhis.

Is Sonia already Prime Minister, or is it just that people are expecting her to be? Doesn't the Congress party have to make a deal with at least one other party to get a majority?

* I can't digest the fact that a person just by virtue of being a wife of someone from the power-crazy "Nehru" family is bound to become the PM.
* The foreign-origin issue aside, what has she achevied in her public life? Why don't we compare her achievements with that of another "Gandhi" widow (Maneka Gandhi)?
* Rahul Gandhi is an MP now. What has HE done to become an MP (other than be a member of the "Gandhi" family)?
* Don't give me CR**** like this is a democratic election and the Indian voter is a mature enough to choose the right candidate. Of the 55% who voted, how many are literates? How many actually know that "Rahul Gandhi is not the Mahatma's grandson"? Don't turn this into a literate vs non-literate discussion. I'm not saying that a literate always makes a sane decision. But the probability of a literate person evaluating the issues and then voting is a lot more compared to this blind faith in the "Gandhi" family.
* And I sure am enraged by the fact that the other 45% of the eligible voters didn't cast their vote. Such a shame to let ANYBODY become the PM.

Blah!!!

US has less voting percentage than India. How about that. Does that make it less democratic or less mature a democracy.

It's the people given mandate to her now.And why they given vote?.It's the mandate to survive humanity in the nation.otherwise india will become a compleate animal country by sangh parivar rule.people become divided by caste and religeon.Indian people fed up with burning people alive and communalisation and riots and violations.dont forget how BJP come into power, and what tactics they made instead of burning people innocent people and injecting communalism in peoples minds.they come to power by following the principle of divide and rule.and they divided peoples minds and killed thousands of innocents just for power.

And Sonia is way ahead than split minded vajpai. And Rahul is also way ahead than vajpai.becoz rahul never teached to kill others for power and show a split charector to the people. And now the election is over and these people may be making more knifes and bombs and more material to inject to minds to get power.and now indian people understood this deception and i am quite sure that in congress will win with 400+ seats majority iin coming elections.

It's the end of a dark age.

Am I supposed to rejoice over the fact that the voting percentage in India is more than that of the US...You can't compare the demographic of the US with that of India.

Voting percentage, like literacy rate, can be a useful measure of voter access or interest in choosing their leadership. In the US, the "turnout," as we call it informally, is most often taken as a sign of voter apathy or interest.

And it's an important number indeed, in any election. Low turnouts in US elections generally favor conservative platforms. How turnout plays in an Indian election may be quite different, but regardless of who benefits, it's a good general sign of the public's belief that their vote can make a difference.

Yes Ranga, it indeed is a day of shame. An Italian has become the prime minister, rahul is a looser and still the electorate elected him, most of rural masses are too foolish to reject blind faith in Gandhis, and 45 % voters plunged the country into mire, by choosing to sleep at home during voting time.

It is indeed shameful not for thousands of rural/uneducated poor, but for us. What did we do for them, apart from arm-chair philosophizing. When did we last think of telling them the importance of making a right decision for themselves and their country?

The middle class, the city folks, the incumbent government all were busy enjoying the green dollar revolution. And they, the poor and wretched were struggling to get water for their farms and meals for their family. In spite of their poverty, their illiteracy, their blockheadedness, they were intelligent to come to voting booth and demand to fulfill their abject necessities.

The debacle that you see, more than anything else reflects the loud cries of rural poor- WE WANT, WE WANT, WE WANT meals, clothing, shelter. Needless to say, they were right in demanding that.

YES...You should be ashamed to be indian. why? not because of Sonia became PM or going to be PM.

But because:

1.India has the world largest population of child labor.

Last year so many street kids in Delhi died during winter coz of cold. BJP didnt do anything to protect those kids. I am not saying congress going to do. Only one person cared for the poor in India and that person is Mother Threasa. And she is not an Indian and no one didnt say she shouldnt stay in India.
2.There are 4.58 million people living with HIV/AIDS in India, says the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO). Thats 0.8 percent of the countrys population, roughly one infected person in a group of 100.
out of every three HIV-positive people, one is a woman.
These are not sex workers but married monogamous women, who barely speak to a man other than their husband.

Instead of worrying abt stock prices and congress worry about these and donate some money to them.

Achievements of Maneka Gandhi??? . She was a third rate model before getting married. Indira Gandhi finally expelled her from their house why? Why she didnt kicked Sonia out.

. Menaka has no shame to join BJP. The irony is that Sanjay Gandhi was the most hated person by BJP in view of the involvement in all atrocities and even the role played by him in imposing emergency. This indicates BJPs bankruptcy. Then after all this why she joined BJP Why? just for her personal achievements.

Last time these non literates last time voted for BJP and nothing happened. During campaign time bjp donated some sarees to these poor. So this time they voted for congress. If they congress didnt do anything then next time they will vote for bjp again.

We should not reinstate the Raj. This would strip India of it's national sovereingty. However, this is completely irrelevent, because (as far as I can tell) no one is suggesting a foreigner coming to a democratic nation and assuming autocratic control. An Englishman being democratically elected by the Indian people to the office of PM has nothing to do with an Englishman being appointed to dictator by Parliament, as a conquering nation to a conquered nation. Surely you can see this.

I can think how much you earn in USA, my salary would be about 1/12 th of yours. I am investing in stocks for so that I buy a house, bike, mobile. I dont have any of them.

Could you please list down the things that you have?

I am investing in Indian stocks and not US so the amount involved is much less but it is a big amount for me.
One can donate where one has enough and I dont have.

Dont compare dollars with Indian rupee.

If you dont like my opinion on congress, why are saying that I should stop worrying about congress.

Almost 2 years back there was an article in Time by Alex Perry that Vajpayee needed rest as he is half dead. There was a discussion also here in Javaranch.People listened to Perry and gave rest to Vajpayee.
Above information was obtained by Perry from BJP's people only and not from Sonia Gandhi. After this article was published,Perry's house was raided by intelligence officials and was harrassed at airports for some weird reasons.
There were many scandals during Vajpayee's tenure. Some of them were Defence scam where deal of money and women was involved. All this was going in the name of national security.
Those who know Italian:
Sonia Gandhi
People in Sonia Gandhi's town in Italy will be celebrating as most possibly will be chosen as next Prime Minister.

Education gives respect(irrespective of your monetary worth).

If some one has $100mil. and starts talking rubbish, I will give him mouthful. After taking slot in Harvard, not completing a degree is real bad and that sure changes my views about Rahul Gandhi(He sure did some one else's chance to represent Harvard ruined).

BTW the way he interacts with people kind of does not give good impressions aswell(I met him once personally, and he does not have a whole of lot of range to talk about stuff and has very less energy). I hope god will help him survive the Indian politics.
