Unfortunately no-one thought to supply me with a "Guide To Women" manual, so I had absolutely no idea what was happening when my soon-to-be-girlfriend was dropping hints. Luckily she eventually got fed up of waiting and took a more... er.. direct approach to getting the message across.

Anyway, the point is that although most people can figure out the hints, there's also a few fairly clueless people like me who don't realise what is happening. Perhaps there should be a new system designed to make the whole process a bit simpler

Like what my father did which was walk into my mother's house and tell her father he was marrying his daughter next april?
They'd known each other for a good while but never spoken about marriage yet...
Of course that was nearly 50 years ago...

Sorry that wasn't what I was implying. It was meant to be more "matter of fact" than an accusation. Trust me, its what I used to say to myself.
