I haven't really done the exam of this simulator - when it was released, I was already 99% finished with my preparation. I just had a look on it and was playing around with it. It def. gives you an idea of how it will feel like in the real exam - that's 99% what it looks like - e.g. I also welcomes you with your name, and it is also full screen - something ALL other simulators did not offer!

For more information of what I've done to score 84% in the SCJP 6.0, read:
http://www.coderanch.com/t/417624/java-programmer-SCJP/certification/ready

Anyway, I would suggest to NOT study as much as I did - now I guess I could have received just the same score after maybe 6 month or so.

Sorry to say that I didn't add a review feature or explanation for drag and drop questions, in my simulator. However, I wish to add it on the next release (with SCJP 1.6).

Once the next version is released, you will be notified via Java Ranch.

Cheers

Hi Devaka,

When I press the "Print Screen" button to copy the "Score Report" as an image, it said capturing is disabled

Why did you disable it? I think you should let us to capture the score report, while there are no any method to save the score report. Isn't it?

However, thanks for your excellent product.

There are no any way to review drag and drop questions, after ending the exam. In future, if I receive more requests for this feature, I'll add this to the next version.

Hey I found an error in one of your answers. It is in Diagnostic Exam question 9.

This is the program that I made out of the statements in it

I chose answer as PrseomcTest but the correct answer is given as PromsecTest. But I have checked it and my answer is correct.

Also this simulator warns you if you choose incorrect number of answers like on one question I chose only one answers where two expected. When I pressed next it warned me. Does this also happens in real exam??

Hi Ankit,

Thank you very much for your discovery. Even though this is the first recognized error of my simulator, I'll correct this as soon as possible. Thanks again Ankit

Yes, you will get this warning on the real Sun exam too.

Hi Devaka! Another mistake

Diagnostic exam question 40. Options A and D are same. I chose A and it was given as wrong answer

Also question number 67 is a bit confusing I think. It goes like this

javac -d rabbit board/A.java

I thought option F would be correct.

The option was however wrong as it did not has a separator between rabbit and broad but I thought that it might be a typo. Actually this completely depends on A.java. If it has a package declaration as

package board ;

in it then it will go to directory rabbit/board.

Although I agree here that the answer is not wrong, but it's a bit confusing so I would recommend that you add the source of A.java to it to make it more clear...

Wow Ankit,

I didn't here about any bugs in my simulator before. Therefore I thought that my simulator is bug free. But now, you recognized two bugs in the simulator, within the same exam!.

Thanks again, for this. If you (or anyone else) found a bug in this simulator, please feel kind to post it in this thread; so I can correct them as soon as possible.

Also thanks for your suggestion on qustion number 67; but I didn't mention the source code, to make this question more tricky.

Thanks.

It's just a typing mistake with the "explanation part". However thanks for posting this, I'll correct it too.

Devaka, I guess you should maintain a separate mailing list for your software and the related updates. Although, I m sure all are very interested in using it, I am not sure how much they are interested in the other details.

Just a thought

I have been trying to download Devaka's simulator for the past a few days and always get the same "link not found" error. I don't know if it's because the "great firewall of china" because the site is down. I have heard good things about this simulator and am very interested in trying it. Is it any other way to obtain the software other than downloading from Devaka's site?

@Ninad,
Which account did you create? You can simply download it from www.examlab.tk

@wei ma,
Yes, it is because of the firewall which you mentioned. If you really need to use examlab, please send a private message to me.

Finally, please don't wake the Zombies. Instead of bumping this topic, you can start a new topic to ask the question; or just send a private message to me.

Kind Regards,

Devaka

I've seen that this type of questions were asked for several times in this forum.

This thread was started by me, about three months ago, as an announcement of ExamLab release. Now it seems that ExamLab is popular in this forum, so I think it is needless to bumb this thread again. Again, this thread is for the ExamLab announcement only.

If you have any questions related to ExamLab, you can just start a new topic, or append your question to a recent topic.

Let this old thread to be relaxed.
