I didnt think from Captaincy prospective, I evaluated only from batsmanship point of view.
I belive, most of the time, any captian is as good as his team however considering the margin of recent losses, I feel bit of different tactics might have worked for Aussies. So yeah, Ponting return may give you that an extra edge to pass through close ones.

Yes. And so is South Africa. And West Indies. And Australia. And England, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.
Honestly, I feel that all the 8 teams mentioned here has the capability to win the tournament.Bangladesh might upset one team. Otherwise, it looks anyone's game really.

instead of posting here it is better if all Java Ranch cricket fans write an email to Dawood bhai and CC Azhar, Jadeja et al (and BCC some ppl from bollywood) and ask them who is the current point of contact for match fixing and ask that person to let us know that which team will win and by how many runs

I have already mentioned about match fixing. India will win WC if they fix the matches and people will think India is a great team.

Doesn't that include much of the Australian team?
McGrath has already announce his retirement for after the WC, Hayden probably will too. Symonds and Gilly shouldn't be far off. That's a quarter of the squad already.

World cup trophy damaged in India.

Why did they display trophy in India ? Nothing is safe here. Polticians may replace the real one with a plastic one.

Let us forget geometry and get back to cricket.

Today's match

Agreed. If they want to be a serious contender, they need to put on a good show here.

West Indies beats Pakistan. So scores above 225 are good and difficult to chase.

Based on a single game on a single pitch? Shame.
Interesting that Pakistan lost to WI though, I didn't consider WI that strong.

Yeah, it was a shocker from West Indies yesterday, can't figure out if it was a brilliance from WI or if I overestimated Pakistan! Lost a few quid in the process! Darn!

I would love to see Canada win it today, Kenya has been at it for a while now and they don't seems to be getting any better - time for a shocker!

Don't tease.
Expect Australia to brutal against Scotland. If not they won't win the competition.

I hope to see strong work from Canada. Last WC one of their players was a West Ozzie and scored the fastest century in the comp.

That is for sure. I get a feeling that oz team depends on Ponting. His presence makes a difference. Rivals hope that he is out of form.
