Hi All,
Im really confused to choose a book between Head First Java or Thinking in java i have just started to learn java and i like to do certification can any one help me out please?

You are telling that you know a little java, so its better that you first go through Head First Java and then to Thinking in Java. I did the same way and it's working for me...

Bruce Eckel used to offer free downloads of his books on his web site - he may still. I'd check there and see if Thinking In Java is available there first. Then, if the style works for you, go ahead and buy it.

Personally, I prefer the HeadFirst books, but since everyone has a different learning style, it's really a decision you have to make for yourself.

Hi All,

Thanks all for your reply.But i heard that Thinking in java is very dry also if i learn only 1 book(Head first java) will i be able to do SCJP?
Please help

Allthough it does not get mentioned as much, I personally am a big fan of the Just Java 2 book.

As Fred said, it is available for free download, so you can decide for yourself how dry it is.
 
Consider Paul's rocket mass heater.
