I am looking for a forum where I can discuss any issues.

I have started 2 issues here, that were not related to the domain of this site and hence deleted.

Hi Chetan,

A quick Google search brings up quite a few forums that seem to be open to registered users and allow political discussion. The first two on the list when I searched were Liberty Post and Shroomery (well that last one is a link to a post describing what is allowed), both of which allow political discussions.

Regards, Andrew

I want to discuss issues that I can't discuss here.

For the technical matter, no forum is like Javaranch.

I think any discussion group which requires to function effectively will require some amount of moderation or it usually results in utter chaos.
On unmoderated groups you will usually find the topics diverting from the core issues to personal attacks, and finally it goes nowhere.

yeah! sometimes it become a bit irritating find out your post gets edited while making a valid point.
I believe the moderators on javaranch are doing a great job keeping the discussions effective, and its a tough job.
As spiderman says "with great power comes great responsibility" :-)

Believe it or not, the .NET folks are less uptight about topics discussed. Try gotdotnet.com message boards .

I would also guess that the .net folks are to the left of the Java folks. That is, if you stretched them even more far apart, the .net people would be communists and the Java people would be facsists.

Cheesy though it sounds, its true. Although people sometimes complain about it, I'm convinced that the naming policy here really does make Javaranch have a better community feel then other forums (fora?) out there. I'd far rather discuss stuff with a real person then with someone called "RedHotJavaBabe" or "w00t!erZ". Using real names also seems to encourage better behaviour. Although there is a high level of moderation, people here seem to be generally polite, and using real names is probably a big part of that.

When you look at places like the sun java forum, which has gone down hill a lot over the last few years, the level of rudeness is very high. Moving on to a less technical forum it gets worse - there are many forums out there where every discussion degrades into swearing and name calling within a few dozen posts. A while back when the Water Cooler forum on the sun site closed down, I started looking around for a new nice forum on the web to discuss stuff, but its incredible how many really bad ones there are out there. I still haven't found one where the level of intelligence and niceness is as high as here.

Do you imply high level of "intelligence and niceness" in aforementioned persons? For "intelligence" Jim is responsible anyway, but regarding "niceness", we are usually too busy fighting each other to attack anybody else -- this tiredness is what you mistake for "niceness".
