programmitically controlling the resolution

I want to know is there a way to programmatically controling the resolution of the webapplication.the resolution invovles the display of webapplication in different browsers,the brightness, the screen size etc.

If the web app opens a new window you can control how large that is, but that's about it. But since the user can then resize the window, the web app developer can't assume that it will actually be that large. Nor how large fonts will be displayed, since that too is under the control of the user.

The bottom line is: The web app should make as few assumptions as possible about the display - they could be wrong.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
