what is the advantage of slf4j over log4j ??

The Subject says it all

I would also like to knw in wht way is slf4j is different from log4j
as far as i have searched, i didnt find stuff like appenders, property files etc for slf4j , maybe i am thinking from a different perpective
(Its hard to think out of the box whilst sittin within it)

Treat me a total newbie to slf4j, i did write some programs in log4j
