well it was a terminology that shared by my colleague at work in my first month of work for the company that is i guess april or the 2nd month, it was a meeting and he presented a simple app on it, i got very interested and told myself that im going to see everything on it! Unfortunately i had no chance to code it from the start i heard the word Android, because of some j2ee work i need to do there, but luckily there is our Tech. Manager and he asked me to Learn Android for a Proof of concept project, from there it was happiness and yes im getting into it, ive made simple apps, and two of the major apps are still pending because they need me in some projects, the first major app in which i got to present it in the Google DevFest Manila, that the Google Engr's were i think amazed that the Philippines is already into Androi Dev, right now im updating myself to Android and how i wish my company im in will have a specific kind of projects or set aside devs for Android we were only 2 in the office right now, but im a person that wanted to share this exciting and truly a potential Technology to my fellow Filipino, so ill try to spread the word from School Talk to other people wanted to learn them!

got many more stories but this is just part of it how about you guys?

I hadn't the opportunity to know the T-Mobile yet. It's still expensive here (Brazil), so I'll wait some time. :]

I got interested in it when I first saw the announcement. One reason was their choice of open source license: Apache instead of GPL. Another was their choice of Java as the primary way to program for Android. The barriers to entry were low (no developer registration, free SDK, no NDAs) and the potential high with lots of carriers and handset manufacturers showing an interest. So it wasn't too long before I made the book proposal and jumped in.

I wanted to ask a girl out. She was an iPhone developer. So I started to learn Android to impress her.

I was not that desperate to want to learn Objective-C & iPhone's SDK.

Regards,

P

If this isn't a tongue-in-cheek reply, it's one of the most innovative reasons to learn Android ;)

Trying to win a girl's heart is several order of magnitudes harder than programming in Android.

I heard about it first on the news. Then I did a search on google. Then about a month later I saw the first book promo on here, and became somewhat interested, though I haven't committed yet due to other commitments, but I'm hoping to start before the end of the year.
