(1) SBI - more stable & custmoer friendly policies, you may get annoyed while getting your loan sanctioned - as they are not very co-operative here, bu in the long run - you'll be happy!!

If not SBI - go for HDC, but avoid ICICI as far as possible. Very easy loan sanctioning but will make your life miserable as rates fluctuate more often, lack of transperancy in operations and problematic to get your docs back!!

SBI gives you trouble in long run also.

Though I havent probe LIC housing but whatever I probed, I found UTI to be best, intrest rate offered is almost same by all banks.
But UTI is the only bank that provides property and personal insurance both free of cost for whole tenure of the EMI.

Prepare an excel sheet, call all bank represntatives.
Ask them what you want to know rather than they tell you.

Main fields of the excel sheet could.
EMI/lakh
Pre-closure fine
interest rate
Tenure of loan
Any other benefit (like insurance/add on loan for furniture/ etc)

How much I know, SBI is good but service is pathetic.
All other are private bank. And I have yet to meet one person who is happy with his credit card/houseLoan bank.

Ankur,
I took my housing loan from CanFin Homes. I'm happy with their services so far. They are friendly and they explain all your queries with patience not only before you sign the agreement but also after that.
My 2 cents.

I prefer not to get any loans from private banks
Get it from LIC or SBI sounds a good option. I got mine from Indian Bank
