Hello everyone,

I heard that there is no recession in India. Is it true? Or is partially true? At least for IT market what is the scenario?

Can anybody say the details on this?

A recession is commonly defined as two successive quarters of negative GDP growth. According to the WSJ, that's not the case for India so far, and from the look of things, not even a single quarter of negative growth is likely. That doesn't mean that jobs won't be lost, of course - some will be.

I think Jyoti is more interested in "jobs recession" than the much-argued-about US economic definition.

There certainly seem to be enough Indian Ranchers who think so, but I'll let them speak for themselves.

Yes, if this what Jyoti like to know about "Jobs Recession", then I say, Yes there is a bad time for all the IT engineers as many IT companies doing job cutting, downsizing in India. Its hard time for the freshers as well as candidates having 1-3 years of experience. You can search this forum for the similar titles.

People started loosing jobs due to recession is from Nov/Dec 2008. It also depends on which last company you worked for. Few companies are in fact hiring though they are very few.

Hi Jyoti,

I think one year is pretty long without job. And it is not as bad in India as US. Whats your experience?

thank you Ananth for your reply

Yes 1 year is pretty long .

I have worked for 2 years in IT but in that 1 year in Java & another one in Testing.

As my interest lies in Java I want to go for the same.
I’m trying for SCJP now.
So how is the scope for the job?

kindly reply.

thank you
