It's interesting why 30% of the Irish have that red hair gene while only 1-2% of the rest of us bear that gene.

I'm of Irish descent, and I love red haired women. I think its genetic on the appreciation side as well.

I expect that the red hair gene is recessive, like blond hair. The weather in the old country is dreadful, cold, gray, windy, wet. Worse than England due to the prevailing westerlies.

My mother brought me a gift when she visited Ireland, a cable knit sweater. Beautiful. But it was far to warm to wear 99% of the time here in the Washington DC area.

Would you have worn it ?

I once worked at as a camera assistant during a football/soccer match (European Football Championship 1988 in Germany) between Ireland and the Netherlands. I had 20.000 Irish in my back with lots of red heads in between. Whole families came there from Ireland to support their team. I never forget how they celebrated the whole match. I felt being in heaven.

I wore it, outside in late Fall. You see them in movies, guys wearing them in their local. Must not have heat there, as I could never wear it inside.

Sounds like it.

This might probably be due to the fact that when a town was ravaged by lets say, earthquake, the red head was more likely to be burned at the stake for it.(I think)

The Hindu God Shiva - The Destroyer is a red head.
