Hi, What is the difference between defaultReadObject() and readInt() in the following serialization. Some people say, is.readInt() correctly implements de-serialization and some say is.defaultReadObject(); allowed the object to be correctly deserialized. If the question is to choose one of these 2, which one I should choose ?

Well the one that "correctly implements de-serialization" is dependent on how the object was serialized -- meaning your readObject() implementation depends on your writeObject() implementation.
