Hello everyone

A JSP can only be HttpServlet that means the only supported protocol in JSP is HTTP. But a servlet can support any protocol like HTTP, FTP, SMTP etc.

I read this somewhere could any one can tell me is this true and if its than why.

Thanks

To my knowledge there never was a servlet container that could do this. See https://coderanch.com/how-to/java/ServletsFaq#otherProtocols for details.
