Difference between Java SE and Core Java

What is the difference between Java SE and Core Java ?

Java SE means Java Second Edition. It is the software platform required to run basic Java programs. I don't think core Java is well established terminology. You could call it an umbrella term for all the knowledge required for a programmer to make decent basic Java programs.

java 7 is in market.i couldn't figure out, why they write Java SE 7 ? it is java 2nd edition or java 7th edition ?

It is not Second edition but standard edition. You may want to read the version history of "Oak" here Version history of Java

Looking at your play on words Ritchie , I would have to guess that you come from one of the countries in UK(England/Scotland maybe). Americans do not write this way. Nicely put.

Oops, you're correct! For some reason I always had Second edition stuck in my head.

And if memory serves, I believe Campbell is Canadian, or at least spent a portion of his life in Canada?

I have spent a portion of my life in Canada. About two hours at 30000 feet, never actually setting foot on the ground, however
