Hi,
I am new to java programming and have limited knowledge about java...
I only know loops, array, conditional statements....
Can someone suggest what should I do as a project(its an ISU for school)?

http://code.google.com/codejam

Try the archive and find an easy problems among "Qualification round" questions (unless you're a math major). Your knowledge of java (loops, conditions, arrays) should suffice.

Inputs and outputs are files. So you'll have to learn that bit which is very easy.

Welcome to the Ranch
Please search (ctrl-click on “Java in General” too) for “Java Project” or “Beginners’ Project” (or similar) and you will find lots of people ask similar questions. You will probably find something useful in those threads.
Do you know anybody who wants an application? Maybe a local football club want to store their recent results in a database?

Codejam might be unsuitable if it is for solving difficult algorithms.

Thus the suggestion of choosing from "Qualification round" questions.
