"Java Granny"

We don't have many rules here at the JavaRanch, but we do insist that you use your Real Name and not some sort of "handle" or obvious alias. If you're not sure about this, see
http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp .

Too bad you didn't actually read the naming policy - it does not require your real name. Tim's post might have misled you on that point: An alias is perfectly OK as long as it COULD be a real name.

The irony here is that one of the primary reasons for the Naming Policy is to keep the crazies at bay.

By promoting professional personas we find that people behave more professionally. And that's very important to us, since one of the things that make us distinctive is that you can ask stupid questions without being flamed the way you often are on most forums that operate with obscured identities.

As for help, I don't think anyone is too unhappy with the help they get here, but many of us only respond to questions when the questioner has a valid display name. Fix the name and the lights go on.
