A Jumpin JForum Day to y'all. That's right. Can you believe it has been six years since we went live with the JForum software here at the Ranch? You can read about past years features here. To celebrate, we have some shiny new features for you complements of Jaikiran and Jeanne.

Two years ago, we introduced cows for JForum Day. Then last year we added a special forum that required 5 cows to post. This year, one of our new features does still more with those cows.

Cow polls
We introduced a form of taking a poll with some special features. The most interesting is that the more cows you have, the more votes you get. Everyone gets one vote once they get to Ranch Hand status. Plus you get an extra vote for each cow you have. Don't worry, people like me will exercise restraint and not vote 100 times! As you earn more cows, you can change your votes. (Or if you change your mind.) Just go to your user profile to see a list of cow polls you've voted in. To kick things off, we have three cow polls:
  • What is your favorite IDE?
  • What version of Java do you use in Production?
  • What is your favorite type of pie?

  • "Advertiser" page
Have you ever seen an ad that you forget what it was and wanted to see it again? We now have a page that lists all current banner ads. Some are for companies like Apose. Others are internal ads like the book promotion of the week or Paul's Permaculture Playing Cards. And then there's a really cute picture of Bear's dog in there.

Thoughts on the new features? Share here.

Let's see if anyone notices that I posted this 45 minutes before JForum Day officially starts in my time zone. Sneaky.
