Hi,
I am studying from Head First Design Patterns...
Had a question: In the real world do developers use Strategy or say Factory Design Patterns WITHIN a Front controller Pattern which is a J2EE Pattern?

Just wondering if this is ok to do ?
Thanks in Advance,
Danveer

Actually the Front Controller is a generalized enterprise application pattern. As you can see the front controller is actually based on the command pattern. This article actually mentions that a factory is used to retrieve the appropriate command objects and that a strategy is used for resource mapping.

However don't confuse the pattern with the implementation.

The Front Controller Pattern doesn't necessarily need to integrate other patterns. However a front controller implementation may have many good reasons for using other patterns to solve various localized problems.
