A good time task control tool ?

I'm looking for a good free project management - time task tool. do you have a prefred one ?

Also not free, but something you probably have on your computer: a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are good for listing tasks and times. I like index-cards and post-its, but they are hard to transmit electronically.

There are some free tools that are more along the lines of what you're looking for though.

Pin them on a wall and point a webcam at them. Seriously.

You will also want to do some charts, like Burn Down Charts.

Be *very* suspicious of Gantt charts for software projects!

There are some free tools that are more along the lines of what you're looking for though.

We are using XPlanner at work, but it isn't working very well. Not because XPlanner isn't a nice tool, but because software tools tend to separate people where you want them to collaborate closely.

Yes, but a webcam isn't free. We do take digital camera pictures of the post it notes from project retrospectives and put them on the shared drive. But they are difficult to read and usually end up typing them up afterward anyway.

The Burn Down chart is interesting. I hadn't read too much about Scrum.
