i downloaded tomcat 5.5 from the link

in that
core .zip

i unzipped the file .

i think that is the installation. is it correct.

it contains all folder like bin,conf,webapps,temp,work,lib,logs.

That is correct. The core Tomcat contains all the basics to run a Tomcat server, though in order to integrate it into Eclipse you'll need an Eclipse plug-in. Somewhere around Tomcat 5.0, the administrative webapps were removed from the package and made into a separate download. You only need them if you intend to use web-based administration of Tomcat, and that's something that you typically won't bother with in a development environment.
