I read that creating build daily is good practice. What a build is? Is it a war file comprising whole application? Or it's a zip file containing application with latest files? Or something else?

Thanks.

A build is whatever artifact is produced from your build process. So if you are writing a web application it will be the war file.

Ideally, it's whatever you ship your customer. I've heard of teams where every build automatically creates a burned cd.
